Therapy for Academics
Let’s talk about it.
Specializing in providing therapy for people who work in academia.
Compassionate, trauma-informed, and academic-jargon conversant.
Focused on applying short and longer-term empirically validated therapies.
Online individual therapy to help you find your way through your current challenges.
I’m Dr. Amanda Mortimer
As a Professor, I’ve been through the academic maze. From starting in doctoral school in an R1 institution, I moved through graduation to adjunct work, the academic job market, and then the tenure and promotion process. I understand the world you’re facing.
Together, we will find the approach that best suits your needs, cultural values, and perspective on the world. I will introduce you to skills that help you understand and manage intense emotions, rework unhelpful thoughts, move toward what matters most to you, and strengthen your connection with others.
How I see therapy
Therapy is your space and your time to focus intently on exploring the changes you’d like to make in your life, and then creating a map to get where you want to go. I’m with you to help you define and name your concerns, as a resource on how change works, and as a support on your chosen path. I bring my two decades of experience and in-depth study of clinical concerns, human learning, and neuroscience to help you create your own life worth living.
